Iris Tactical Threat Awareness

Overiew

The Iris TTA team seeks to emulate advanced adversary capabilities and behaviors in multi-domain, highly contested environments. As part of that requirement, we need an on-platform capability that can fuse sensor data to identify and track objects in a battle space and simulate adversary platforms and capabilities. Iris TTA can best meet this requirement by leveraging three complementary capabilities:

  • An on-platform Fusion Tracker that can operate at high accuracy and confidence against advanced adversary capabilities. To achieve the levels of accuracy required for this Fusion Tracker, TTA will require vastly more training data than will be available from real-world test flights.

  • A paired Mission Simulation capability that can generate millions of virtual flights and sensor streams, including emulation of adversarial capabilities, behaviors, and environments that cannot be easily recreated with live test flights.

  • A means of retraining the Fusion Tracker on the edge, in a continuous cycle, with the latest adversary and sensor data.

To effectively operate those capabilities, TTA needs a high-performance compute environment that supports training, assessment, and simulation at the edge—one that is seamless with enterprise capabilities and that operates securely at multiple classification levels.

Research + Findings

To achieve our goals, we created research initiatives around integrating product solutions into a seamless UI experience, understanding product market fit, and quantifying the success of continuous model improvement(CMI) and other workflows. Integrating product solutions into a seamless UI experience involved creating a cohesive user interface that seamlessly integrates multiple products and services to provide a unified experience. Understanding product market fit involved conducting research to ensure that the product met the needs of the target market. Quantifying the success of CMI and other workflows involved measuring and analyzing the effectiveness of different workflows to optimize performance. By focusing on these research initiatives, we hoped to improve our product and services, enhance the user experience, and increase customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Methodology:

  • Competitive / Market Analysis

  • Desk Research

  • User / SME Interviews

  • Rapid prototyping

  • Usability Testing / Concept Testing

  • Quarterly heuristic evaluation / UX audit of staging environment

  • Service Blueprint Exercises / Workshops + Modes and Mindsets

  • Iterative + rapid prototyping
